On this production I served as an Assistant Technical Director under Technical Director Andrew Riedemann and along side fellow ATDs Luke Tarnow–Bulatowicz and Constanza Etchechury López. For this show I was responsible for the technical design of the Victorian style house.
The entire house sat on a three-degree raked deck designed by Andrew Riedemann and surrounded a hydraulic lift designed by Luke Tarnow–Bulatowicz. Framing the stage was a large border wall designed by Constanza Etchechury López.
The house was steel framed flats with multiple layers of siding and trim added on top. The walls included a counter-rake to offset the raked deck. The roof was made from plywood ribs that were cut and beveled on a CNC router and covered with shingle sheets also cut on the CNC from 1/4” revolution plywood. There were tight tolerances between the roof and a hydraulic lift inside the house, the shingles of the roof were less than an inch above the top of the lift. However due to great communication within our technical direction team I was able to design the framing of the roof to sit around the lift and work with the minimal clearance leading to a smooth load in.
